The CCA identifies current development issues, challenges and their underlying causes as well as development opportunities.
The United Nations (UN) System in Lesotho held a multi-stakeholder workshop to validate the Lesotho Common Country Analysis (CCA) with attendance by members of the Government as well as its Ministries and Agencies, Development Partners, Civil Society, Private Sector, Media and UN Agencies.
The development and validation of the CCA provides the first step in formulating the second UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the period 2019 - 2023, which succeeds the previous Lesotho United Nations Development Assistance Plan (LUNDAP) coming to an end in 2018. The new UNDAF will be aligned with the Lesotho’s development priorities as formulated in the National Development Strategic Plan (NSDP) II and will contribute 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The CCA identifies current development issues, challenges and their underlying causes as well as development opportunities to help envision and prioritize issues for the new UNDAF. The workshop was held to allow stakeholders from various sectors to discuss and validate the priorities and challenges identified in the CCA, as well as the recommendations stated in the document.
