Child Poverty in Lesotho: Understanding the extent of multiple overlapping deprivation

Like many countries in Africa, Lesotho faces significant challenges related to persistent poverty and hindered development. Indeed, 57 per cent of all households live below the national poverty line (Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, 2014) and there are reasons to believe that children are disproportionally affected by deprivations such as malnutrition, HIV/AIDS, school dropout, under-five mortality and orphan hood (MOH and ICF International, 2016).
