COVID-19 Situation update: Issue 3
In Lesotho, there have been 10,525 confirmed cases of COVID-19, against 62,593 tests conducted, and 309 deaths reported to WHO. The case fatality rate currently stands at 2.9%.
WHO reports that cases and deaths are falling in the Kingdom of Lesotho. In the last week of February (22nd – 28th February/epi week 8) new cases fell by 86% over the week: 67 new COVID-19 cases were reported in epi week 8 compared to 429 in epi week 7 (15th – 21st February 2021). Further, the positivity rate of tests conducted also fell, from 6.8% in epi week 7 to 3.8% in epi week 8. Only 7 deaths were reported over epi week 8, compared to 55 in epi week 7.
21 health care workers tested positive over the last week of February. In total, 469 health care workers have tested positive to COVID-19, accounting for 4% of all positive cases in the Kingdom.
