Universal Child Benefit Case Studies: The experience of Lesotho
23 June 2020
The government of Lesotho conducted an impact evaluation of the CGP in 2013 to assess its impacts on the wellbeing of beneficiary children and households (Government of Lesotho, 2014). The impact evaluation was based on a randomised control trial design. A local economy-wide impact evaluation (LEWIE) model, combining household survey data simulated the impacts on the local economy. Researchers collected information on beneficiaries’ perceptions of the programme’s impact on household decision making, community dynamics and social networks.
